2014 Conference
Due to a federal government shutdown and other factors, there was no multiday conference held in 2014. Instead, in April, a presentation/webinar featured Kinshasha Holman Conwill and the Smithsonian Institution’s newest museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which opened in 2016. The Smithsonian’s 19th museum is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history, and culture. Although the mission and vision of the museum is one of education and history, the theme brings with it some unique security challenges.
