Head Registrar, Victoria & Albert Museum, London

Ana Muñoz joined the Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum as Head Registrar in 2019, where she leads the Loans Section in the delivery of the Museum’s generous loans out program and extensive program of long-term loans into the collection. In this role, she is responsible for establishing best standards for the care of Museum objects during activities related to loans, including risk management and responsibility for objects and couriers while they are off the Museum’s premises. She actively contributes to ensure that Collection Management procedures and practices at the V&A comply with national and international museum and ethical standards. Her previous work experience has spanned a wide range of exhibitions and loans project management, dealing with a variety of museum objects and fine art, from historic and archaeological collections, to old masters and challenging contemporary work. She worked for over six years at the British Museum, where she delivered numerous loans out, international tours, and coordinated incoming loans for major temporary exhibitions. Before moving to the United Kingdom, she worked in various cultural institutions in Spain, United States, and Ecuador. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art history, a master’s degree in cultural management, and postgraduate studies in art history and arts administration. She is a member of the UK Registrars Group.
