Charlotta Magruder
Control Room Operator in the Office of Protection Services at the Smithsonian Quadrangle
My name is Charlotta Magruder and I am a Control Room Operator in the Office of Protection Services at the Smithsonian Quadrangle (QUAD) located on the mall in Washington, DC. One of my many duties is to monitor the cameras and alarms on the QUAD to ensure the safety and security of Smithsonian’s visitors and employees. I have been employed in the security field for 20+ years and have worked at the Smithsonian since 2011 (12 years). I am a 7th generation Washingtonian and am proud to have lived in the Washington area and to be an employee of the Smithsonian. As a child, I visited most of the Smithsonian Musems and later took my children and their friends to visit the many Museums on the Washington Mall. My personal goal has always been to be the best mother to my 3 children, best grandmother to my 20 grandchildren and best great-grandmother to my 7 great-grandchildren. My favorite hobby among many, including camping, is cooking for my family and friends along with holding bar-b-ques for them. I have always been interested in photography and am counted on by my family and friends to always have pictures to share of family functions and events. I am also a member of my neighborhood planning committee for our yearly block party where I donate and distribute backpacks and school supplies for our neighborhood children. My family and community service are the most important and rewarding aspects of my life.
