Katelynn Averyt

Disaster Response Coordinator, Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative

Katelynn Averyt is the Disaster Response Coordinator at the Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative where she manages emergency response fieldwork and deployments for domestic and international cultural heritage disaster missions. She coordinates on-the-ground assistance and expert consultations to heritage colleagues in times of crisis and works with partners at the Smithsonian, U.S. government, nongovernmental organizations, and colleagues around the world to improve cultural heritage disaster capabilities in the field and facilitate faster responses. Katelynn joined the Smithsonian in 2013 and previously worked in the Office of the Director at the National Museum of Asian Art. She received her Master of Arts degree in art and museum studies from Georgetown University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in classics from the Catholic University of America.
