Sgt. Will Palenscar

Sergeant, Office of Protection Services, Smithsonian

Sgt. Palenscar has been with the Smithsonian’s Office of Protection Services since January 2011. His career started as an officer, then as a Control Room Operator at the Steven Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. He then spent four years as a Sergeant at the National Museum of African American History and Culture and currently he is a Sergeant at the Steven Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. Prior to that, from 2002-2016, Sgt. Palenscar worked with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. He also worked with the Broward County School System for three years doing security at the largest high school in the U.S., at the time having over 5,700 students.

Sgt. Palenscar also does photography for The Connection Newspapers and writes articles for events he photographs. His other hobbies include going to concerts with friends and riding his bicycle.
