FAQ
On behalf of the Smithsonian Institution and our partners at the International Committee for Museum Security (ICMS), it is our pleasure to welcome you to the National Conference on Cultural Property Protection (NCCPP). We are thrilled to have you join us for this gathering of experts from across the country and around the world.
This conference is all about sharing ideas and knowledge. Throughout our time together, you’ll have the chance to attend sessions and workshops and meet fellow attendees. Our speakers are experts in their fields, and we hope their talks will inspire you and spark meaningful conversations.
NCCPP is committed to making this conference an inclusive and enriching experience for all attendees. If you have any questions, require assistance, or wish to provide feedback, don’t hesitate to reach out to one of our team members wearing a red-colored ribbon on their name badge.
We’d like to express our deep appreciation to our sponsors, who have generously invested in this gathering; to every speaker, moderator, and photographer who volunteered their time and expertise to us; to our incredible board who put this conference together; and to our logistics team for their hard work and support.
We’re especially thankful to The Getty, The Broad, and LACMA for hosting us. And to the museums we are visiting on Wednesday: LACMA, the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Academy Museum, the Norton Simon Museum, The Huntington, the Autry Museum of the American West, the Museum of Tolerance, the Grammy Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).
Once again, welcome to NCCPP 2024. Enjoy the conference!
Mark E. Wallace
NCCPP Chairperson and Director of the Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Protection Services

Conferences can create a lot of waste. NCCPP is committed to reducing our environmental impact and fostering a more sustainable future. This year, we are starting sustainability practices to maximize our impact.
What can you do on-site?
A few of the ways we are creating a sustainable NCCPP include:
In addition to environmentally sustainable practices, we also take into account social considerations and economic practices and are patronizing locally owned businesses for the majority of our conference needs.
