Eric Bruce

Chief Experience Officer (CXO) at the National Gallery of Art

Eric Bruce serves as the Chief Experience Officer (CXO) at the National Gallery of Art. In this role, Eric leads strategy for all front-of-house services and visitor-facing spaces, ensuring they meet the needs of audiences and feel cohesive, welcoming, and authentic to the Gallery’s brand and mission. In addition to leading experience operations, Eric serves as principal audience insights advisor to the executive leadership team. He supports other divisions and departments with training, research, and data analytics, along with visitor, staff, and volunteer feedback mechanisms toward meaningful insights and actionable solutions. He works closely with stakeholders across the institution to ensure strategic and experiential alignment. Eric is a Certified Customer Experience Professional and leader in the industry of customer experience beyond the museum field, co-chairing the Customer Experience Professional Association’s DC network. Before his time at the National Gallery of Art, Eric served as the Head of Visitor Experience and Insights at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He holds a Master of Arts degree in arts and cultural management from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Simpson College.
